Our Commitment

Lucky Opal is committed to providing a safe, responsible gaming environment. We believe gambling should be fun, not harmful.

Know the Signs

Problem gambling can develop gradually. Recognising the warning signs early makes it much easier to seek help and regain control. The following signs may indicate that gambling has stopped being fun and has become a problem:

  • Spending more money on gambling than you can afford, or gambling with money set aside for rent, bills, or food.
  • Chasing losses — continuing to gamble or increasing bet sizes in an attempt to recover money already lost.
  • Gambling affecting personal relationships, work performance, or day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Feeling restless, irritable, or anxious when you are not gambling, or when you try to reduce or stop.
  • Lying to family members, friends, or employers about how much time or money you spend on gambling.
  • Borrowing money, selling assets, or taking out credit specifically to fund gambling activity.
  • Feeling that gambling is the only way to relax, cope with stress, or escape from problems.
  • Repeatedly trying and failing to cut back or stop gambling.

If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you know, we strongly encourage you to make use of the tools below and to reach out for professional support without delay.

Tools Available to You

All responsible gaming tools are available free of charge and can be accessed directly from your account settings at any time. You do not need to contact customer support to use most of these tools — they take effect immediately upon activation.

  • Deposit Limits — Set daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits to control how much you can add to your account in a given period. Limits take effect immediately. Increases to existing limits are subject to a 7-day cooling-off period before they apply.
  • Spend Limits — In addition to deposit limits, you can set a maximum spend per draw or per week. This helps you budget independently of your account balance.
  • Cooling-Off Period — Temporarily suspend your account for a defined period of between 24 hours and 6 weeks. During this time you will be unable to log in, purchase tickets, or receive promotional communications. Cooling-off cannot be reversed early.
  • Self-Exclusion — Permanently exclude yourself from all Golden Strike products and services. Self-exclusion takes effect within 24 hours and is irreversible for a minimum period of 12 months. You can also register for the national self-exclusion scheme BetStop at betstop.gov.au.
  • Reality Checks — Enable session reminders that notify you of how long you have been active on the platform and how much you have spent during the session, at intervals you choose (every 15, 30, or 60 minutes).
  • Activity History — View a full record of your purchases, deposits, withdrawals, and prize claims directly from your account dashboard, so you can track your spending at a glance.
  • Block Promotional Communications — Opt out of all marketing emails, SMS promotions, and special offer notifications at any time from your notification preferences.

To access any of these tools, log in to your account and navigate to Account Settings → Responsible Gaming. If you need assistance activating a tool, please call us on 1800 858 858.

Protecting Vulnerable Players

We are particularly committed to protecting players who may be at greater risk of harm, including young adults, people experiencing financial hardship, and those with mental health concerns. We will never use targeting or personalised marketing to encourage players who have activated any responsible gaming tool or who have shown patterns consistent with problem gambling.

Our customer service team is trained to identify and sensitively respond to customers who may be experiencing difficulties. If a team member has concerns about your wellbeing, they may proactively reach out to offer support and information.

In accordance with NSW regulations, we report on our responsible gaming practices annually and cooperate fully with all regulatory audits and inquiries.

Financial Counselling

If gambling has affected your finances, speaking with a free financial counsellor can be an important first step. Financial counsellors can help you understand your options, negotiate with creditors, and create a plan to get back on track — all at no cost to you.
